- Microsoft is making virtual developer workstations available in the cloud via Dev Box
- “Microsoft Dev Box will allow developers to spin up a virtual machine that will be preconfigured automatically in the cloud without first setting up physical workstations before working on a project. - Microsoft Teams Live Share takes meetings beyond simple screen sharing
- “Microsoft is adding a new Live Share feature to Microsoft Teams, which will allow participants to start co-editing or co-creating during Teams meetings. Live Share will be available through apps that integrate into Microsoft Teams, offering more interactive meetings that go beyond simple screen sharing.” READ MORE
- Microsoft expands its AI partnership with Meta
- “Today, Meta officials said they’ll be using Azure to accelerate research and development across the Meta AI group. Last year, Meta began using Azure VMs for some of its large-scale AI research, specifically distributed AI training.” READ MORE
- Google Chat adds warning banners to protect against phishing attacks
- “Google Chat has replaced Hangouts and will now display banners warning you against potential phishing and malware attacks coming from personal accounts, Google announced on Thursday. This tweak for Google Chat is the latest expansion of Google’s attempts to prevent phishing.” READ MORE
- Twitter will pay $150 million for using people’s security phone numbers to target ads
- “Twitter will pay $150 million to settle a privacy lawsuit with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The settlement, announced today, covers a complaint that Twitter deceptively used members’ email addresses and phone numbers for targeted advertising. On top of the fine, Twitter must also accept audits of its data privacy program among other restrictions.” READ MORE
- Walmart drones take flight for fast delivery in six US states
- “The retailer is teaming up with DroneUp to extend the service to people living in Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Texas, Utah, and Virginia. For seven days a week from 8am to 8pm, according to Walmart, the drone will deliver anything out of a list of thousands of items. However, the total package weight cannot exceed 10lbs (about 4.5kg).” READ MORE
