What’s Coming to Dynamics 365 Business Central

Explore the many new features Microsoft has coming to the platform in April

Back in January, Microsoft published the 2022 release wave 1 plans for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. The plans provide an overview of all the new capabilities coming between April 2022 and September 2022. There are hundreds of new features and enhancements in the first wave, but this week we are diving into what’s coming to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a business management solution for small and mid-sized organizations. The solution automates processes and enables you to adapt to what your business specifically needs. Whether it’s finance, manufacturing, sales, project management, or more, Business Central has the ability to support your organization.

Improvements coming to Business Central in the next few months include reporting, supply chain, and collaborative business processes.

APPLICATION

All of these features will be available in April 2022:

  • Blocking deletion of G/L accounts
  • Allow the sell-to and bill-to customers to be different for jobs
  • Bank reconciliation reports
  • Change default company bank account on sales and service documents
  • Check documents and journals in background
  • Consolidate customer and vendor balances
  • Fixed Quantity in product bills of materials
  • Improved and extensible Adjust Exchange Rates batch job
  • Map to Dataverse option sets such as payment terms, freight terms, and shipping agents without code
  • More control over deferrals posting
  • New UI for entering demand forecasts to add support for variant code and other improvements
  • Payment reconciliation journal
  • Report selection for projects
  • Set default dimensions on locations
  • Shopify connector
  • Standardizing the bank reconciliation process in North American versions
  • Support inventory pick and warehouse pick operations for jobs
  • Synchronize sales quotes and orders in both directions between Business Central and Dynamics 365 Sales
  • Use different G/L accounts for payables and receivables transactions

WORKING WITH DYNAMICS 365

Both of these features will be available in April 2022:

  • Enhancements to Microsoft Teams integration
  • Outlook add-in – add email attachments to Business Central records

REPORTING

Both of these features will be available in April 2022:

  • New capabilities for financial reporting with account schedules
  • Use Excel to design layouts for reports

  • Guided tour that helps users find settings and personalization tools
