Microsoft Create brings New Design Tools to Microsoft 365

Microsoft announced a new innovative platform today (Oct. 12) that will change the content-creation experience for Microsoft 365 users.

Microsoft Create

Microsoft Create is the hub for all things design. It is a website where users can access Microsoft’s new creative apps and services along with staple Microsoft 365 apps such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Microsoft Designer

The first new app in Microsoft Create is Microsoft Designer, a graphic design app for creating social media posts, invitations, graphics, and more. An intriguing feature of Designer is its AI capabilities, powered in part by DALL∙E 2 by OpenAI.

Building a design from scratch can be difficult, especially when you’re unable to find an image that fits your vision. Rather than spending time searching through countless images, Designer takes over and turns your idea into reality. If you select the “start from scratch” option, you can simply describe the image you want to see and the app uses AI technology to create one. If you add more images, text, or other elements, Designer will automatically provide design ideas for you to choose from (you might recognize this feature from Microsoft PowerPoint).

Microsoft Designer is especially useful for users who don’t have much – or any – design experience. Choose a professionally designed template, customize it to make it your own, then download your creation or share it directly to social media.

The Designer app is currently in preview.

Clipchamp

Microsoft Clipchamp, Microsoft’s video editing app, is now available to Microsoft 365 users at no extra cost (premium features included).

Clipchamp comes with many tools and resources to help you produce professional-looking videos. Among them are:

  • Over 1 million royalty-free videos, audio tracks, and templates
  • Premium filters and effects, transitions, animated graphics
  • Screen and camera recorder
  • Text to voiceover capability with 170 lifelike voices
  • Branding, drag and drop, trim and crop
