Emergency Security Update for Google Chrome Users

On Friday, Google released a security update to combat a high severity zero-day vulnerability within the Chrome browser.

Chrome’s 3.2 billion Windows, Mac, and Linux users are advised to update Chrome to the latest version, 99.0.4844.84 to mitigate any potential threats.

Here’s how to update:
1.) Open Chrome
2.) At the top right, click More
3.) Click Help, then About Google Chrome
4.) Click Update Google Chrome, then Relaunch

The Chrome stable channel update announcement stated, “Google is aware that an exploit for CVE-2022-1096 exists in the wild.” The main information known about CVE-2022-1096 is that it is a “Type Confusion in V8,” which deals with the JavaScript engine.

A zero-day attack is particularly dangerous because the vulnerability was known to hackers before Google could fix it. Since all users are at risk, it is important to get your Chrome browser updated immediately.
